DEAR MEMBERS:
Happy New Year!
The officers for this year are: Rene Frederick, President; Tammy Griggs, Vice President; Justin Marquez, Treasurer; Judy Walz, Executive Director. We look forward to making 2017 a great year for our association by providing more and building on our membership. If you know someone who is not currently a member, please encourage them to join. If you have CLE ideas/requests, please share them with us as we want to make the CLEs relevant to our members.
Please be aware that the location of the monthly bar lunches and CLEs has been moved to the Dakota Restaurant located at 629 North Highway 190 in Covington. It is closer to the interstate and avoids the construction on Highway 21. We hope that this location is more convenient and will encourage more attendance.

MEMBERSHIP
It is time to renew your membership for 2017! Our association membership follows the calendar year, January 1 to December 31. This year the membership cards will be “yellow”. Your 2016 blue membership cards will expire at the end of January, so please mail in your form and payment soon. The membership card allows you to enter the courthouse without removing your belt and admits you and a guest to our annual Christmas party. Once your membership form and payment are received, you will be mailed a 2017 membership card. Attached is the registration form.

CLE
The monthly CLE’s are held on the third Friday of each month, January through October, at Dakota Restaurant located at 629 North Highway 190 in Covington.. Lunch is $28 and is served at 12:00 p.m. and the CLE is $15, for members, from 12:30-1:30 p.m.
Our first 2017 luncheon/CLE is January 20th at Holiday Inn Covington. Our guest speaker is District Attorney Warren Montgomery. Please rsvp judy@22ndjdcbar.org.
Mark your calendars now for the rest of the monthly meetings: February 17th, March 17th, April 21st, May 19th, June 16th, July 21st, August 18th, September 15th, October 20th and November 17th (all day CLE).
COMMUNITY OUTREACH
The Community Outreach Section Chair is Rachael Catalanotto. Please contact Rachael with any community needs that arise.
CRIMINAL DEFENSE LAW
The Criminal Law Section Co-Chairs are Michael Bradley and John Almerico. This section will host various meetings of interest and an All Day CLE.
FAMILY LAW
The Family Law Section Chair is Angela Cox-Williams. This section will host several Family Law Specialization CLE’s and an All Day CLE in April.
WOMEN IN LAW
The Women in Law Section Chair is ————–. This section will host meetings of interest to members and CLE opportunities.
YOUNG LAWYERS
The Young Lawyer Section Chair is Molly Manieri. This Section is composed of lawyers who are 40 years of age and under, or who have been admitted to the bar for 6 years or less. The Section will host several CLE’s throughout the year to include local Judges who offer valuable information and crucial skills to young lawyers.

ON LINE DIRECTORY
If you have not submitted your online Attorney Directory, you are missing out on potential new clients. We continue to get requests for referrals and this is where we send them. But you must fill out the online form. If you have any questions contact Judy at judy@22ndjdcbar.org.
- The directory can be searched by name or practice area.
- The directory not only allows members to find members, but also allows attorneys outside of our area to find your contact information, and allows the general public looking for an attorney based upon practice area.
- The bar association receives many calls looking for an attorney, if you are not on the list you will loose out on this opportunity for new clients.
The Basic Listing is included in your annual membership dues, but you must be a member in good standing and fill out the online form.
In addition to the Basic Listing, we are pleased to offer a Premium Listing at the low cost of $50 per year. The Premium Listing includes the same information as the Basic Listing, plus a link to your website, map to your office, and a photo.
