Thank you to our August CLE speaker, Judge Reginald Badeaux, who spoke on “Professionalism.”

Our September lunch/CLE is on Friday, September 18th at Keith Young’s Restaurant. Our speaker this month will be Paul Lea, who will speak on Medical Liens & Other Personal Injury Subrogation’s. The lunch begins at noon, and the CLE itself will begin at 12:30. The lunch is $25 and the CLE, for members, is $15. Please rsvp judy@22ndjdcbar.org if you plan to attend.

Mark your calendars for the remaining CLE dates:

October 16th: Rene Frederick and Cameron Mary will speak on Criminal Law 101 from the Defense Perspective.

November 13th is the All Day CLE at the Courtyard Marriott 101 Northpark Blvd. Covington, LA. The speaker line-up will be available soon.

FAMILY LAW

The next Family Law CLE is on September 9th in the 22nd JDC Library at the Covington Courthouse. Our speaker will be Judge Mary Devereux who will speak on “Motion Practice in Family Court”. The CLE begins at 9:00 a.m. The cost is $15 for members. Please RSVP Judy at judy@22ndjdcbar.org.

On October 28th Judge Dawn Amacker will present a CLE on the “Title IV Rules for Family Law Proceedings”.

Both of these CLE’s have been approved for one hour each of Family Law Specialization.

YOUNG LAWYERS

Thank you to Andrew and Adam Hoffman who sponsored a free CLE and lunch on August 5th titled “Baby Boomer Divorce”.

The 2015 Court Chase 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run to support the Youth Service Bureau is set for Saturday, September 12th beginning at 8:00 a.m. at the Covington Trailhead. This family friendly run will traverse the 22nd JDC Court House and downtown Covington. All runners will be receiving technical shirts, along with food, beverages, awards, and door prizes at the post race party! This race provides us an opportunity to bring together the legal community, private businesses, friends, families, and the general public for a meaningful cause.
