Our CLE this month will be on Friday, September 15th at Dakota Restaurant. Our guest speaker will be Michael DeShazo who will talk on “Drive-By ADA Lawsuits: Necessary or Nuisance?” Lunch is served at 12 p.m. and the CLE will begin at 12:30 p.m. The cost of the lunch is $28 and the CLE is $15. ABA/Federal Trial Judges Educational Summit
October 16-18
Royal Sonesta Hotel
New Orleans, LA

The program is entitled “ANATOMY OF A FEDERAL TRIAL: Judges and Lawyers Jambalaya—Trial Techniques Designed, Developed, and Demonstrated by a Faculty of Federal Trial Judges and Top Trial Attorneys.” The program will encompass vignettes of various phases of a federal trial based on a fact pattern, followed by interactive roundtable discussions led by federal judges and experienced lawyers. The topics will include pre-trial motions, admissibility of evidence, examination of experts, closing arguments, damages, attorney’s fees, appeals and ethics. I have attached a program outline.

HURRICANE HARVEY AID

1) Some members of the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office are part of Team Cajun Invasion. They are collecting relief items to be delivered to the flood victims in Texas. They have asked for

  • cleaning supplies
  • hand sanitizer
  • baby wipes, diapers
  • work gloves
  • heavy duty garbage bags
  • first aid items
  • toiletries
  • new bed sheets
  • new towels
  • soap

If you would like to donate some of these relief supplies, you can give them to Deputy Brittany Haulard at the courthouse or at the law office of Spell & Spell, 1225 N. Columbia Street, Covington. (If no one is at their office, you can leave it on the porch.)
