January 2020 Newsletter
HAPPY NEW YEAR:
I hope everyone had a healthy and successful 2019. Along with myself, Rachael Catalanotto, president, the officers for this year are Roy Burns, III, Vice President; Bailey Morse, Treasurer; and Judy Walz, Executive Director. I am confident that we can continue to work together to grow the Bar Association and meet the needs of our membership.
There is a lot going on in our Association, therefore, to keep it running to meet the needs of our members, we have increased our membership dues to $70, a $10 increase. We are still significantly lower than other bar associations in the New Orleans area. Please note, this year we will be offering a referral discount. If you refer a new member, you will receive a discount of $10.00 which will reduce your dues to last years’s rate.
We will start the new year off with an event sponsored by the St Tammany Chamber of Commerce, 22nd JDC Bar Association, Louisiana Association of Defense Counsel and the 22nd Judicial District Court. On January 15th from 6-8 p.m. at the St. Tammany Justice Center, all of the judges of the 22nd will present a panel discussion to members of the business and legal communities to give an overview of the inner workings of the 22nd Judicial District Court. This event was a approved for 1 hour CLE credit.
There is no fee to attend but registration is required.

WEBSITE LISTING
Our website is not only the place to quickly look up everything going on in our Association, but is also our attorney referral source. The Bar Association receives many calls from the public and this is where we send them to find an attorney; as well as other attorneys who may be looking for you. So, please fill out the on-line form to be included; this must be done every year to keep it current.
Basic Listing: Lists your name, phone number and address and is free with your current membership dues.
Premium Listing: Lists your name, phone, address, link to website and area of practice, and is only $50 per year. (look for ways to get a discount price on your membership form).
SUB-SECTIONS
Our sub-section chairs this year are: Josh Allison, Community Outreach; Lam Tran, Criminal Law; Shandy Arguelles, Family Law; Angela Cox Williams, Women in Law; and Chandler McCoy Young Lawyer. Participation in these sub-sections are included in your membership dues. Please mark on your membership form which sub-section you would like to be a member.
