Special two-hour CLE presented by the Children’s Advocacy Center – Hope House in Covington.
“Collaborative Approaches to Protecting Children: Bridging Family Law, Child Advocacy, and Law Enforcement”
Speakers:
- Thomas Mitchell – Executive Director, Children’s Advocacy Center – Hope House
- Brian Brown – Detective & Forensic Examiner, Covington Police Dept.
- Judge Patti Oppenheim – 22nd Judicial District Court
Registered participants will receive 2 hours of Family Law CLE credit. Program facilitators will provide an overview of:
- The Children’s Advocacy Center (CAC) response model
- Law enforcement’s collaboration with Hope House in investigating crimes against children
- The common types of cybercrime victimization observed by law enforcement
- The Children’s Code as it relates to CAC services for children and families
- The importance of a trauma-informed response to child abuse experiences
- Recent legislation affecting the admissibility of forensic interviews in civil proceedings
