February 2016 Newsletter
DEAR MEMBERS:
Thank you to Elisia Tipton for speaking at last month’s luncheon. Her presentation on the revisions to Article 966 of the Louisiana Code of Civil Procedure was excellent, and I know many of us appreciate the helpful tips she offered for addressing these changes in our daily practice.
Our February CLE will be held at Keith Young’s Restaurant on Friday, February 19th. Our guest speaker will be Roger LaRue, who will speak on the ever-changing “Medicare Secondary Payer Act,” which, like many federal acts, saw another round of changes that will affect most civil litigation practices. Lunch will start at 12:00 and the cost is $25; the CLE begins as 12:30 and is $15 for members. Please RSVP Judy at judy@22ndjdcbar.org if you plan to attend so that we can ensure that we have enough seating and can start on time.
At the February CLE, we will have two raffle drawings for tickets to the LA Bar Foundation Gala, which is held on Friday April 8th, and the Chef Soiree, which is held on March 20th. You must be present to win.
As I mentioned at our last CLE luncheon, we have added new sections to our association in response to multiple requests from within our membership. We are looking forward to working with our section chairs for a productive year and are excited to participate in the events that they have planned. Please visit our website calendar to see the complete listing of upcoming activities for the entire bar and the individual sections. Your participation is welcome in all of our sections, and if there’s something that you’d like to see us address this year, please let us know.
If you have any questions, concerns or recommendation, please feel free to contact me or one of the other officers. My ears and door are open!
Elizabeth Sconzert,
President
