January 2019 Newsletter
HAPPY NEW YEAR:
I hope everyone had a healthy and successful year. Along with myself, Justin Marquez, president, the officers for this year are Rachael Catalanotto, Vice President; Roy Burns, III, Treasurer; Judy Walz, Executive Director. I am confident that we can continue to work together to grow the Bar Association and meet the needs of our membership.
There is a lot going on in our Association, therefore, to keep it running to meet the needs of our members, we have increased our membership dues to $60. This has not been done in 8 years, so I hope you all understand our need to do so.
MEMBERSHIP:
Your 2019 membership is now due, the cost is only $60 (look for ways to get a discount price on your membership form). Please click on the link below to pay on-line or print out the form and mail it in with payment. Remember to check any of the sub-sections you would like to participate in or receive notices regarding upcoming events. You will be mailed a blue membership card once payment is received; the purple membership card will no longer be good after January 31st.

MembershipWEBSITE LISTING:
Please check out the rest of our website and let us know your views. This is not only the place to quickly look up everything going on in our Association, but is also our attorney referral source. The Bar Association receives many calls from the public and this is where we send them to find an attorney; as well as other attorneys who may be looking for you. So, please fill out the on-line form to be included; this must be done every year to keep it current.
Basic Listing: Lists your name, phone number and address and is free with your current membership dues.
Premium Listing: Lists your name, phone, address, link to website and area of practice, and is only $50 per year. (look for ways to get a discount price on your membership form).
SUB-SECTIONS:
Our sub-section chairs this year are: Kelly Rabalais, Community Outreach; Rachel Yazback, Criminal Law; Phillip Lynch, Family Law; Jesmin Finley, Women in Law; Nick Cressy, Young Lawyer. Participation in these sub-sections are included in your membership dues; please mark on your membership form which sub-section you would like to be a member.
CLE’s:
Our first CLE of the year is January 18th at Dakota Restaurant. Judge Jay Zainey will be the speaker and will talk on “Professionalism”. The cost of lunch is $28 and the CLE, for members, is $15 in advance and $20 at the door. The CLE price for non-members is $30. Please RSVP to Judy at judy@22ndjdcbar.org if you plan to attend.
