June 20, 2025 at ZEA, lunch service starts at 12:15 with the CLE beginning by 12:30- How are your communication skills? Kristi Louque will be here to help with “It’s Not What You Say, It’s How You Say It- The Attorney-Mediator’s Guide To Powerful Public Speaking and Effective Communication”. Ms. Loque’s teaching objectives include addressing Public Speaking Skills for Lawyers, Effective Communication with Clients and Opposing Counsel, and Mediation Tips from a Mediator (AKA the things the mediator wishes you knew). If you are looking for ways to correct speaking flaws or habits, how to connect with your audience or tips on how to remain professional and honest when dealing with heated subjects or bad news on a case, then please join us! This presentation does encompass skills related to Rules 1.1-1.4 of the Rules of Professional Conduct and has been approved for 1 hour of professionalism credit. July 18, 2025 at ZEA, lunch service starts at 12:15 with the CLE beginning by 12:30 -Mark Mansfield joins us for “Contempt and Sanctions”. Mr. Mansfield will present a CLE on the ins and outs of professionalism in litigation, including the appropriate use of motions for sanctions and contempt. He will discuss statutory penalties that the Judges may impose punishing litigants and attorneys if they run afoul of the Rules of Professional Conduct or other rules and statutes. He will also present various scenarios where professional courtesies and duties to clients may conflict and how to navigate those situations. This CLE has been approved for one professionalism credit hour as well as one hour of Family Law credit. August 15, 2025 at ZEA, lunch service starts at 12:15 with the CLE beginning by 12:30– “What I Would Know If I Were You- Behind the Scenes Tips from the Staff Attorney’s Perspective”. Staff Attorneys Becky Mighton and George Amann will give insights from their point of view- a “nuts and bolts” discussion about communication with the Court (whether by phone/email/fax), presentation in court (written and/or oral), and enhancing your case for appeal. Join us for the Second Annual Bring Your Kid To Court Day
Friday, July 25, 2025


Members of the 22nd JDC Bar Association are invited to bring and accompany their child(ren) or family member between the ages of 6-18, to spend the morning at the Justice Center in Covington!

Bar members with 6-10 year olds should arrive at 8:45am.
Your day will include, among other activities, a courtroom visit, Q&A with Judge(s), a tour of the KidSense Room and a Kid-Friendly Mock Trial.

Bar members with 11-18 year olds need to arrive at 8:00 am to observe traffic court, visit one of the courtrooms and the Judge(s), and tour secured behind – the – scenes areas.
…And we have a few other surprises too!

We will wrap up with lunch and the day will be completed at noon.

The cost is $15/per person (per child and per adult)
