Dear Members,
On behalf of the Board of Directors, we provide a brief update on the status of your Bar Association and hope you are all enjoying this Mardi Gras season.
State of the 22nd JDC CLE
The Board thanks The Honorable Alan A. Zaunbrecher, Chief Judge of the 22nd Judicial District Court, for his CLE update on the state of the judiciary at our February 21 CLE. The luncheon sold out almost immediately and the presentation was informative.
Wills for Heroes
Our pro-bono efforts are continuing and on February 21 we participated in the Wills for Heroes Program through the LSBA and its YLD. We thank Joseph Tran and Kristen Amond from the YLD of the LSBA, Cynthia Bordonaro from SLLS for sponsoring the event, Alex Reed our Young Lawyers Chair, and all the lawyers who participated. March 29 Election Day
Statewide elections will take place on March 29, 2025, with local Municipal Primary candidates, constitutional amendments, and local sales tax/millage renewals on the ballot. Early voting will take place from March 15 to March 22, 2025.

Legal Mentoring Opportunities
Many members have expressed interest in establishing a mentor- protégé program and the Board is actively determining how this program can be effective. If anyone has an interest in establishing or being a part of it, please let the Board know (contact info at the bottom of this newsletter).
CLE Program and Social Sponsorships
Any lawyers or firms interested in providing sponsorships for CLE programs or social gatherings should contact Reina Gardner reina@22ndjdcbar.org. These sponsorships are a great way to let the legal community know what you can do and are a great benefit to the bar association. Clerk Transition Committee
The Committee meets periodically with the St. Tammany Parish Clerk of Court, Jessica Brewster, and select staff to discuss the state of the Clerk’s office as well as issues and challenges facing Clerk’s Office. Position: Child Support Attorney (Contract/Part-Time)
Location: St. Tammany Parish and Washington Parish
The 22nd JDC Public Defender’s Office is looking for an attorney to represent non-custodial parents in Rules to Establish Child Support, Rules for Contempt and Compliance matters in St. Tammany and Washington Parish. These matters are heard in front of a Hearing Officer and are typically set on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Data entry of case information is required.

Pugh, Accardo seeks an attorney licensed in Louisiana with a minimum of five (5) years of workers’ compensation defense and litigation experience. The candidate must have excellent academic credentials and be skilled in the following areas: researching various legal issues; drafting pleadings and memoranda in support of motions; preparing reports’ conducting depositions and inspections; appearing in court and arguing motions; along with attendance at mediation and litigating a case at trial. Appellate experience a plus. Some travel, almost exclusively within the State of Louisiana, is required. The position offers a comprehensive and competitive compensation package with a wide range of standard and optional benefits.
