November 2025 Newsletter
With much appreciation…
We are grateful to everyone who took time this fall to organize and speak at our CLEs. Their dedication continues to enrich our legal community.
Criminal Law Half Day CLE
The September 26 CLE was a great success. Special thanks to the Section Chair Whitney Germany and the administrative staff at the Justice Center for their ongoing support of the Bar Association. We’re also grateful to Chief Judge Zaunbrecher for welcoming us, and to our speakers—Judge Swartz, Shannon Hattier, Ernie Barrow, and Doug Freese—for generously sharing their expertise and insight.
CLE GUMBO
This lively program was a smashing success! We extend heartfelt thanks to the Federal Judges who crossed the lake to join us: Judges Milazzo, Ashe, Papillion, Long, and Vitter. We also appreciate our District Judges, Judges Zaunbrecher and Gardner, for their continued support of the 22nd JDC Bar Association.
A special shoutout to our moderators who kept the program running smoothly: Master of Ceremonies Judge Greg Guidry, and moderators Ross Lagarde, Larry Centola, and John Alford.
We are also grateful to our sponsors—Hornbeck Offshore, Broussard David & Moroux, Jones Fussell, Lagarde Law, Galloway Johnson Tompkins Burr and Smith, Talley Anthony Hughes and Knight, Daigle Fisse Kessenich, Baker Donelson, and Porteous Hainkel and Johnson—for making this event possible.
Lunch & CLE at ZEA
We wrapped up our CLE season with a wonderful program featuring Judges Allison Penzato and Elizabeth Wolfe. We’re grateful to these judges—and their colleagues from the First Circuit—for their continued leadership and for sharing valuable insights into the workings of the Court of Appeal.
