Thank you to our September speaker, Austin Benton, who gave us valuable insite on “Superior Document Drafting (Stop Repeating the Mistakes of Those Before You)”. We were all amazed by the advances in technology available to us in preparing our
documents, which will allow for more time spent developing our relationships with our clients as well as building our cases.

Our October CLE will be our last CLE of the year held at Keith Young’s Restaurant on Friday, October 21st. Our guest speaker will be Alan Zaunbrecher who will speak on “Effective Trial Techniques.” We’re looking forward to this discussion as he’s promised to integrate the teachings of Vincent Gambini with his extensive trial experience.

Lunch will start at Noon and the cost is $25; the CLE begins as 12:30 and is $15 for members. Please RSVP to Judy at judy@22ndjdcbar.org if you plan to attend so that we can ensure that we have enough handouts for everyone, the restaurant can have enough food and seating, and we can get started on time. We have created an Attorney Directory on our website, which will list our current members. But you must fill out the online form.

• The directory can be searched by name or practice area.
• The directory not only allows members to find members, but also allows attorneys outside of our area to find your contact information, and allows the general public looking for an attorney based upon practice area.
• The bar association receives many calls looking for an attorney, if you are not on the list you will loose out on this opportunity for new clients.
  The Basic Listing is included in your annual membership dues, but you must be a member in good standing and fill out the online form.

In addition to the Basic Listing, we are pleased to offer a Premium Listing at the low cost of $50 per year. The Premium Listing includes the same information as the Basic Listing, plus a link to your website, map to your office, and a photo.

The All Day CLE will be November 18th, 2016, at the Courtyard Marriott in Covington, LA. This CLE is approved for 6 CLE credits and will include Ethics and Professionalism credit. The cost is $185 if paid before November 11th, and includes lunch. The registration form will be sent out soon.

The All Day Criminal Law CLE will be October 14, 2016, at the Holiday Inn in Covington, LA.
This CLE is approved for 5 hours of CLE credit. The cost is $160, if paid before October 7th, and includes lunch.
We will have a drawing for two gift certificates to the Tap Room, you must be present to win.

Thank you to all of the Sponsors, Participants, and volunteers at this Year’s Court Chase. The contributions to the Youth Service Bureau are an invaluable benefit to our community.

On Wednesday, October 5th, the Young Lawyers Section is hosting its annual Day at Court for a class of Covington High School juniors and seniors. Judge Penzato will admit the students to observe a drug court session. Following this session, she and Judge Gardner will speak to the students and answer any questions the students may have. Afterwards they will get a short tour of courthouse and the jail. This is a great experience for the students.
