Ms. Avery’s presentation will focus on providing a practical understanding of accounting for attorneys focused on commercial litigation and community property partitions. This CLE is for you if you are interested in understanding how to identify accounting and financial documents essential to a case, obtaining a high-level understanding of financial statements and accounting software, and obtaining a high-level understanding of the major tax forms and how they come together in a tax return. Additionally, you will obtain a basic understanding of the types of engagements CPAs undertake and CPA work product (for example, understanding the difference between audits, tax returns and expert reports from a CPA professional standards perspective).
