Monthly Newsletters

September 2024 Newsletter

We hope this month’s newsletter finds you settling into a routine, enjoying those back to school days, and looking forward to crisp fall mornings. If you weren’t able to join us for the Trial Techniques Learned from My Cousin Vinny, presented by Judge Alan Zaunbrecher, you missed a treat and some laughs. I know I will be watching that movie again soon, with a whole new perspective. Thank you, Judge Zaunbrecher!

We were also very proud of our ½ Day Criminal Law CLE on August 9th. If you were able to attend, please let us know if you have any feedback. We had a great turnout and some though-provoking speakers and topics. A huge THANK YOU to Whitney Germany and Reina Gardner, as well as our speakers, John Lindner, Collin Sims, Judge Scott Gardner, and Caroline Gabriel. Thank you all for making this such a success.

Don’t forget – coming up THIS FRIDAY, September 6th, is the annual Opening of Court. This year it is held at the Washington Parish Courthouse at 10:00 a.m.

Also coming up this month on Friday, September 20, is our monthly CLE at Zea Restaurant from 12:00 – 1:30 p.m. Presenting this month is our newly elected St. Tammany Parish Clerk of Court, Jessica Brewster, along with Leanne Kimble Eckholdt, Recording and Land Director, who will be presenting on the State of the Clerk of the Court. This is one you absolutely do not want to miss.

September CLE – Register & Pay Online

Our final monthly CLE will be held on October 18th at the same time, in the same place. Dr. Angela White- Bazile from the Judges & Lawyers Assistance Program will be presenting on “Functioning in Dysfunction”. This has been approved for an hour of professionalism.

September CLE – Register & Pay Online

Don’t forget our All Day CLE on November 15th at the Southern Hotel. Details are coming soon but we have some really dynamic speakers including a judge, experts in personal injury, tech, and, of course, your ethics and professionalism hours.

We will be closing out the year with our annual Christmas Party! This year we are back at Meribo on Thursday, December 12th. Don’t forget to mark your calendars!!

As we push into fall, I just want to thank each and every one of you for your continued support of the 22nd Judicial District Bar Association! This is YOUR Bar Association and if there is anything that I, or anyone on your board can do to help, please don’t hesitate to ask.
