Thank you to our May CLE speaker, Michael Landry, of Stone Pigman in New Orleans, who spoke on the “Introduction to the New Louisiana Business Corporation Act.”
Our June lunch/CLE is on Friday, June 19th at Keith Young’s Restaurant. Our speaker this month will be U.S. District Court Judge Jay Zainey and Mark Surprenant, of Adams and Reese, who will be speaking on “Providing SOLACE to the Legal Community.” The lunch begins at noon, and the CLE itself will begin at 12:30. The lunch is $25 and the CLE, for members, is $15. Please rsvp judy@22ndjdcbar.org if you plan to attend.

The next Family Law CLE is June 3rd in the 22nd JDC Library at the Covington Courthouse. Our speakers will be Paula Charles and Roxanne Newman. The next Young Lawyer Judge’s Luncheon/CLE is scheduled for June 24th at 12 p.m. in the Bar Association Library at the Covington Courthouse. Judge Devereux will speak on General Motion Practice. Justice of the Peace Courts handle small claims, open accounts, garnishments, JD Rules, evictions, and weddings. The jurisdictional limit is $5,000.00, plus interest, attorney’s fees, and court costs.
