YOUNG LAWYERS

I am pleased to serve as the Chair of Young Lawyer Section this year. It is my goal to increase the membership and participation of this Section. Therefore, we are updating our Young Lawyer membership to make sure everyone who would like to participate is included in our email notifications. Please remember that the Young Lawyer Section consists of any attorney under the age of 35 and/or has been in practice for 7 years or less. Please let Judy know if you would like to be added, or removed, from the Young Lawyer Section.

I am planning 4 CLE luncheons with local Judges. These CLE’s will occur every three – four months and offer participants an opportunity to sit down with members of our local bench for unique insights into the practice while earning CLE credit! I am also planning two social functions for participants to network with each other.

Currently our CLE’s are scheduled for:

  • “Professionalism for Young Lawyers,” by Judge Amacker. March 21st at 12:00 p.m. at Gallagher’s Restaurant located on 509 S. Tyler St. in Covington.
  • “Trial Readiness Tips for Young Lawyers,” by Judge Gardner. June 22nd at 12:00 p.m. at Abita Roasting located on 1011 Village Walk Rd. in Covington.

I will be scheduling our Fall and Winter CLE events plus the two socials in the near future so watch for upcoming information on these events. If you have any questions please contact me at josh@allisonlawcorp.com or Judy at judy@22ndjdcbar.org.

SOLACE

Tanika, a New Orleans attorney, needs our help. Her father was recently in a catastrophic accident while out of town in Mississippi. Thankfully, he survived; however, he faces a long recovery. He is admitted at the Forest General Hospital and will be there for the next few weeks. Tanika and her mother are at his bedside and she and her mother are staying at the Marriott Courtyard in Hattiesburg. It would be of tremendous help to the family if someone had a connection for a place to stay for the next several weeks, conceivably four weeks and/or until he is discharged. Marriott hotel points would be very helpful as well.
If you can help, please directly contact Tanika at : peopleslegal@hotmail.com
