From the President…
As we are recovering from the new year and gearing up for Mardi Gras festivities, the 22nd JDC Bar Association has some exciting CLEs and opportunities lined up for you.
First, don’t miss February’s monthly CLE meeting on February 16th at Zea’s Restaurant from 12 – 1:30. We will have a panel of speakers from Southeast LA Legal Services’ Northshore Pro Bono Project, Pro Bono Project Northshore, and Good Samaritan’s Ministry presenting on Pro Bono Efforts and Opportunities on the Northshore. I’m excited for this presentation to help us all gain an understanding of what services are out there to aid our community, what these organizations do, how they can help us and how we can help them. Here is the quick link to get you there- and don’t forget to pick your lunch choice- the options are Rotisserie Beef and the vegetarian option is the Hummus Platter.

March. CLE – Register & Pay Online Just a week later, on March 22nd, we have the annual All Day Family Law CLE at the Southern Hotel. We are putting our final touches on this program and a separate email will be coming shortly with the agenda and speakers, but this will be one you don’t want to miss.
Do yourself a favor and save ALL the dates for our Monthly CLEs at Zea- April 19, May 17, June 21, July 19, August 16, September 20, October 18!
We are also very happy to announce that we will be providing discounted headshots for 22nd JDC Bar Association members. This has not been provided since 2018 and is in keeping with our goal to provide more services to our membership this year. This benefit will be provided later this year.
If you have already reenrolled or are a new member, thank you! If not, don’t forget that membership prices will increase on March 1st. Here’s what you get for $75 (price increases March 1)
- Monthly newsletter, updates from the courts, important and timely notices affecting your law practice, employment opportunities and CLE seminar invitations
- Monthly luncheons and CLE opportunities at a discount

- Monthly meeting, lunch and CLE occurs on the third Friday of the month, January through October, at noon at Zea Rotisserie and Bar in Covington (January 19, February 16, March 15, April 19, May 17, June 21, July 19, August 16, September 20, October 18)
- Lunch is $35, CLE is $15 for members, $25 for non-members
- Doors open at noon with the CLE from 12:30-1:30
- HOWEVER, when you enroll as a member, you can attend all our monthly CLEs for a reduced rate, one-time payment of $100 (this does not cover the All Day CLEs or the cost of lunch). That’s just $11.11 per CLE hour!
All Day CLEs…Seize The Day!
- Provide 6 hours of CLE credit at a reduced rate for members
- The March 22 seminar, at the Southern Hotel, is dedicated to family law and qualifies for specialization credit
- The November 15 seminar, at the Southern Hotel, offers a variety of subjects, and always provides one hour of Ethics and one hour of Professionalism
- Notifications and registration for these seminars will be announced on our website and newsletter
Section Membership
Membership in these sections is included in your annual membership registration
- CRIMINAL LAW- Offers CLE for Criminal Law and updates on new laws impacting criminal law as well as networking opportunities
- FAMILY LAW- Offers CLE for Family Law Specialization and updates on new laws impacting family law as well as networking opportunities
- YOUNG LAWYERS- For lawyers 40 years of age and under, or who have been admitted to the bar for 6 years or less, offers a chance to meet with other newly admitted lawyers and judges for CLEs and networking

- Basic listing is free with your paid membership, simply go to the link to complete the information you want clients to see
- Premium website listing is only $40 when purchased with your membership and displays your bio, logo, contact info and a direct link with your e-business card prominently visible under the attorney directory tab
