Thank you to Micah Stewart who spoke at our February CLE. Our next CLE will be at 1 p.m. on March 19th via Zoom and our speaker will be Judge Alan Zaunbrecher. Judge Zaunbrecher will speak on the “Assisted Outpatient Treatment Program”. The Program is a Civil Specialty Court Program to facilitate the delivery of community-based behavioral health treatment.

The cost for members is $15 and $30 for non-members. Please click on the link below to register and pay for the CLE. You will receive the Zoom log-in link with your paid receipt. The deadline to register for this CLE is 11:00 a.m. on March 19th.

If you have not paid your 2021 membership dues yet, they are now due, the cost is $75, after March 1st. Please click on the link below to pay on-line or print out the form and mail it in with payment. You will be mailed a blue membership card once payment is received.

The Bar Association website is not only the place to quickly look up everything going on in our Association, but is also our attorney referral source. The Bar Association receives many calls from the public and this is where we send them to find an attorney; as well as other attorneys who may be looking for you. So, please fill out the on-line form to be included; this must be done every year to keep it current.

Basic Listing: Lists your name, phone number and address and is free with your current membership dues. This information must be filled out by you.

Premium Listing: Lists your name, phone, address, link to website and area of practice, and is only $50 per year. (look for ways for a discount price on your membership form).

Supreme Court Lifts Online CLE Limit for 2021
In consideration of the need to take measures to stop the spread of COVID-19, the Louisiana Supreme Court on Jan. 13 issued an order lifting the cap on self-study mandatory continuing legal education credits for calendar year 2021. The self-study credits were increased to 12.5 hours annually for 2021. Rule 5(b) of Supreme Court Rule XXX was also modified to permit excess hours earned in the 2019 compliance year to be carried forward to compliance year 2020, 2021 or 2022. Board-Certified Specialists: Maximum of 18 Hours of Self-Study CLE Credits in 2021
Considering the need to take measures to stop the spread of COVID-19, on Jan. 13, the Louisiana Supreme Court increased the limitation on self-study CLE credits to a maximum of 18 hours for board-certified specialists in 2021. The 22nd Judicial District Court of Louisiana seeks to hire a Staff Attorney reporting to Division F, Judge Vincent Lobello. LSBA HIGH SHCOOL MOCK TRIAL COMPETITION

With the start of the new year, each and every one of you are invited to be a judge at the LSBA sponsored High School Mock Trial Competition to be held by ZOOM on Saturday March 20th (new date). You will be able to be a Judge from your home or office by ZOOM.

You will be able to observe, critique, score and comment on future attorneys who have been given a legal problem to solve and argue at the trial court level. You will be given the opportunity to observe and give your personal input and observation to their performance. High school students from Jefferson, Orleans, St. Tammany, and St. John the Baptist Parishes will present their case!

Various times are available to suit your schedule. If you would like to participate in the LSBA sponsored activity, please reply to the attached link below to register for the judging. Of course, you must be an attorney in good standing in order to qualify as a judge.
